Chinese Embassy Legalization

If you are already living in China  or you will move or travel  to China  for work/adoption you may be require legalization  of our American documents, we can help you with the whole process. These american document that are destined to be used in China will have to go though the Legalization process at the Chinese Embassy here in Washington D.C.  We provide the whole authentication and Embassy legalization services for our clients making this complicated process simple.

 

 

Like many other embassies the Chinese Embassy in particular have strict requirements for them to issue the Chinese Embassy stamp (picture above)


 

For FBI reports or  Federal Documents, the following steps are required:

  1. U.S. Department of State Authentication
  2. Chinese Embassy legalization

 

The Chinese Embassy also requires a copy of the applicants’ identification (passport or U.S driver license) and a complete and signed copy of the G1 form (Chinese Embassy -DC-G1)  and  payment for the Chinese Embassy (they take credit cards)

 

Rates:

FBI Reports/Federal Documents Legalization:

  1. U.S. Department of State Authentication $85 (Elite Document Service fee) (4 day turn around)
  2. Chinese Embassy legalization (Elite Document Service fee) $75 +$25(Chinese Embassy Fee)  (2-3 day turn around)
    1. The Chinese Embassy also offers Rush Service (1-2 day turn around) for an additional $25

Vital (personal) document (Birth, Marriage, Divorce Death, Single Status birth Certificate)  legalization,  documents cannot be older than one year from the date it was issued.

The steps are:

  1. Make sure your document is a certified copy and recently issued within 12 months.
  2. Then have it certified by the Secretary of State, then
  3. Authenticated by the US Department of State in Washington DC,
  4. Finally legalization of the document at the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.

 

The Chinese Embassy also requires a copy of the applicants’ identification (passport or U.S driver license) and a complete and signed copy of the G1 form (Chinese Embassy -DC-G1)  and  payment for the Chinese Embassy.

Personal Document Legalization:

  1. Secretary of State Certification $115 (Elite Document Service fee) (depending on state 5-9 day turn around)
  2. U.S. Department of State Authentication $85 (Elite Document Service fee) (4 day turn around) 
  3. Chinese Embassy legalization (Elite Document Service fee) $75 +$25(Chinese Embassy Fee)  (2-3 day turn around
    1. The Chinese Embassy also offers Rush Service (1-2 day turn around) for an additional $25

 

The same pertains to business documents and copies of passports, however the only difference for is that they can legalize copies of the business document.

  1. The steps for this is: have the certified copy notarized (if multiple documents, every single document will need to be notarized)
  2. Certified by the Secretary of State,
  3. Authenticated by the US Department of State in Washington DC,
  4. Finally legalization of the document at the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.

Keep in mind this whole process can take an average of 3 to 4 weeks to complete (here is the  timeframe breakdown; secretary of State certification can range anywhere from 5 to 8 business days,  department of state authentication takes 4 business days,  the Chinese Embassy standard service 3-4 business days or rush service for 1-2 days.)

 

The above steps are very necessary in order for the Chinese embassy to legalize your documents. I see many people at Chinese Embassy trying to legalize their documents without the proper certification needed just to get rejected at the window.
